How a cannabis social club works in Spain
Private associations, members and a specific legal framework: the essentials before you request membership.

Cannabis social clubs are private, non-profit associations. They are not shops: access requires membership, and bringing in new members follows each club’s own rules.
Private associations, not shops
The key difference is legal: a club is an association of adults sharing a common space. Membership is an association fee, not the purchase of a product.
That is why on SESHLY we always talk about “requesting membership”: the club remains the one that validates each new member.
Becoming a member
You usually need to be of legal age and, in many cases, an invitation or the sponsorship of an existing member. Some clubs review each request before approving it.
The process is private and typically completes within a few days.
What to expect on your first visit
Calm spaces with common rooms and often a terrace. Discretion and respect for the neighbourhood are part of these clubs’ culture.
